El martes 8 de marzo a las 12 del mediodía se llevó a cabo una marcha convocada por el Comité Nacional de Resistencia a la Colonización y el Apartheid -Beit Ommar- bajo el título de “Withstand and Challenge Day”.
Esta marcha se realizó como respuesta a la escalada de la colonización israelí, el aumento de construcción de asentamientos ilegales sobre territorios palestinos, la continuidad en la construcción del Muro ilegal, la confiscación de tierras palestinas y los ataques al pueblo palestino.
La marcha se trasladó hacía la carretera principal que separa Belén de Hebrón a la altura de Beit Ommar. Se unieron activistas internacionales que se trasladaron desde Hebrón y activistas internacionales locales que trabajan en el Centro por la Libertad y la Justicia en Palestina. Llevaban banderas palestinas y entonaban coros en favor de la libertad.
Al llegar al punto de la carretera lograron cortar el tránsito vehicular durante media hora. Los conductores palestinos que circulaban por el lugar, bajaron de sus autos y se unieron a la protesta, reuniendo un total de 70 personas. De esta manera señalaron a las autoridades israelíes que si ellas se consideran con deerechos para demorar a los conductores con sus puestos de control, uno a pocos metros del lugar, entonces, con más razón, los palestinos tienen derecho a manifestarse y demorar el tránsito en su propia tierra y en su propia ruta.
Luego de liberarse el tránsito llegó una dotaciónde soldados israelíes y al ver burlada su intención de reprimir el acto persiguieron corriendo a algunos de los manifestantes. La mayoría logró alejarse del árae, pero Yazmi Shoyorhi, miembro del Comité Nacional de Resistencia que había sido herido por el impacto de una bomba de estruendo tres días atrás durante la marcha semanal en Beit Ommar, no logró escapar y fue apresado por los soldados.
El comandante del regimiento presente le arrebató su documento de identidad y le dijo que quedaba arrestado. Ante esta situación Yazmi sufrió una descompensación provocada por el shock y la baja presión.
Personal de la policía de Israel también se hizo presente en el lugar.
Activistas internacionales permanecieron junto a él y se interpusieron ante los soldados para que llamaran una ambulancia.
Una ambulancia palestina llegó poco después para atender a Yazmi y luego de verficar su estado de su salud, fue finalmente arrestado.

On Tuesday 8th March at 12, took place a demonstration called by the National Committee for Resisting Apartheid Colonization – Beit Ommar – below the title “Withstand and Challenge Day”.
This march came in response to Israeli and colonists escalation in increasing building of illegal colonies on Palestinian lands, continuing the built of the illegal Wall, confiscating lands and attacking Palestinian people.
The demonstration took place in the Highway Bethlehem-Hebron at the point of Beit Ommar. International activists from Hebron joined the Committee and the Center for Freedom and Justice –Beit Ommar- during the march. The demonstrators sat on the road and waved Palestinian flags and sang chorus invocating Palestinian right for freedom. They achieved to close the transit during half an hour.
Most of Palestinian drivers also joined the demonstration in solidarity, and soon, a number of 70 people gathered on the road showing that if Israeli considers itself with the right of stopping Palestinian people or putting the checkpoints, Palestinians also can do a checkpoint for Israelis.
After half an hour, when the transit was open, the Israeli soldiers arrived. The demonstration has finished in a pacific way but soldiers were not happy and they ran after some of the demonstrators.
They could catch Yazmi Shoyorhi, member of the National Committee for Resisting Apartheid Colonization because he was injured. Let’s remember that this is the same person who had received an impact of sound bomb in his leg, last Saturday at the weekly demonstration in Beit Ommar.
The soldiers took his ID and kept him in the floor. He was shocked, he couldn’t even breathe properly. The soldiers insisted on arresting him, but some internationals remained in the place protecting Yazmi and asking the army they should call an ambulance.
When the Palestinian ambulance arrived, they attended the man, and finally Yazmi Shoyorhi was arrested by the soldiers.
