La administración de la tierra de Israel, entregó propiedades del barrio palestino de Silwan en la ciudad vieja de Jerusalén, al grupo de derecha israelí Elad y Ateret Cohanim, a bajos precios y sin la extensión de los permisos requeridos, según muestra una investigación publicada en el diario Haaretz.
El estado de Israel concedió las transacciones y no brindó información acerca de ellas. Más tarde y como respuesta a la presión ejercida por el activista de izquierda, Dror Etkes, la corte decidió desclasificar sólo una parte de la información para que no quedaran al descubierto de qué propiedades se trata. Sin embargo, el diario Haaretz, logró identificar a tres de estas propiedades y requirió información acerca de ellas a la Administración Israelí de la tierra.
El reporte incluye transcripciones de las conversaciones mantenidas en 2008, entre el líder de Elad, David Beeri, con el Ministro de Seguridad Pública, Avi Dichter, durante la visita a algunas de las propiedades.
Elad aseguró que la compra de las propiedades está en procesos y que estos actos se están llevando adelante de manera legal, transparente y honesta. La Administración Israelí de la tierra, declaró que entregó toda la información que se le ha solicitado. Ateret Cohanin agregó comentarios.

Israel Lands Administration handed over properties in the Silwan neighborhood and the Old City of Jerusalem to right-wing groups Elad and Ateret Cohanim at low prices, without issuing a tender, a Haaretz investigation shows.
The Israeli state concealed the transactions and did not make information available about them. Further to pressure made by left-wing activist Dror Etkes, the court decided to have the ILA disclose only part of the information, to impede identification of the properties. Haaretz has located three of the properties the ILA was required to report on.
Based on the exposé, the ILA did not list dozens of properties. The lands could have been transferred to other similar organizations or subsidiaries, some of which may be registered abroad and considered tax shelters.
The inquiry contains transcripts of conversations held in 2008 by Elad leader, David Beeri, with then-Public Security Minister Avi Dichter during a visit to some of the properties.
Elad stated that it is in the process of buying properties but the acts are carried out in a legal, transparent and honest way. The ILA declared it had submitted all the required information. Ateret Cohanim did not comment.
