Israel destruye tumbas en el legendario cementerio de Mamillah-Israel destroy ancient graves in the Mamillah Cementery




Máquinas retroexcavadoras y tanquetas acaban de destruir ayer 4 de agosto, 15 tumbas más en el cementerio histórico de Mamilla. Según nos informaron testigos presentes, las maquinarias acudieron al sitio con protección policial.
La fundación Al Aqsa en protección de la herencia, que se ocupa del mantenimiento y restauración de las tumbas, reportó ante Maan News, que ayer por la mañana, trabajadores israelíes comenzaron a excavar, revolver y destruir las tumbas.
La batalla por el cementerio de Mamilla se ha incentivado desde el año pasado. Se trata de un lugar histórico y musulmán sagrado que se remonta al siglo VI y donde descansan restos de allegados cercanos al profeta Mahoma. En el lugar también fueron enterrados reconocidos santos sufíes, miles de oficiales, escolares, gente noble y familias completas de Jerusalem desde el año 1000.
Mamillah está ubicado en el centro de Jerusalem Occidental y el sitio está siendo destruido con el pretexto de construir allí un Museo de la Tolerancia por parte del centro Simon Wiesenthal.
Los descendientes de las personas enterradas en el histórico cementerio musulmán, además de organizaciones locales e internacionales de derechos humanos, presentaron una petición de acción urgente por violaciones a los Derechos Humanos por por parte de Israel ante las Naciones Unidas en febrero de este año, manifestando que se están profanando las tumbas del cementerio musulmán de Ma'man Allah (Mamila)de la Ciudad Santa de Jerusalén.

Bulldozers from the Jerusalem Municipality destroyed 15 additional graves in the historic Mamilla Cemetery, Wednesday 4 August. According to eyewitness accounts, the bulldozers were under police protection.
The Al-Aqsa Foundation for Waqf and Heritage, which is undertaking the graveyard's maintenance and restoration, said Israeli workers started overturning the graves in the morning, reported Maan News.
The battle for Mamilla Cemetery has intensified over the past year. The cemetery has been a Muslim burial ground and holy site since as early as the 7th century, when companions of the Prophet Muhammad were reputedly buried there. In addition, numerous Sufi saints and thousands of other officials, scholars, notables, and Jerusalemite families have been buried in the cemetery over the last 1,000 years.
Mamilla is located at the center of West Jerusalem and the historic burial ground is being destroyed to build a “Museum of Tolerance” by the Simon Wiesenthal Center.
