El Centro de Jerusalén para los Derechos Sociales y Económicos (JCSER) publicó un informe que detalla la cantidad de palestinos que perdieron sus derechos de residencia en Jerusalén oriental ocupada debido a las restricciones y medidas de Israel.
Hace dos meses, el centro presentó una solicitud al respecto al Ministerio del Interior israelí y recientemente ha recibido una respuesta sobre el número de palestinos que perdieron los derechos de residencia desde 2009 hasta el 06 de junio 2010.
El Ministerio israelí revocó los derechos de residencia de 721 palestinos, incluidos 108 que perdieron este derecho desde el comienzo de este año hasta el 06 de junio. Esto significa que un total de 829 palestinos fueron despojados de sus derechos de residencia en 1,5 años.
El número de palestinos que fueron despojados de sus derechos de residencia desde que Israel ocupó ilegalmente Jerusalén oriental en 1967 hasta mediados de junio de 2010 ha llegado a 86.226 (14.371 familias), mientras que el año 2008 fue el de mayor número de palestinos que fueron despojados de su derecho a residencia.
Además, Israel ignora y rechaza las miles de solicitudes de reunificación familiar como así también las solicitudes de registro de los palestinos nacidos en la ciudad.
El JCSER añadió que Israel sólo restableció los derechos de residencia de 95 palestinos desde el comienzo de 2009 hasta el 06 de julio 2010.
En cuanto a las solicitudes de reagrupación familiar desde 2009 hasta el 15 de julio 2010, un total de 1.099 solicitudes se presentaron y sólo 22 fueron aprobadas en 2010.
Ziad Al Hammoury, jefe de la JCSER, dijo que los números, estas cantidades, brindadas por Israel, nis siquiera son exactas, sino que en realidad, sobre el terreno es mucho peor, ya que es una lista elaborada e interpretada por funcionarios israelís. Cientos de residentes están siendo despojados de sus derechos de residencia en Jerusalén oriental ocupada, cientos de familias a las que no se otorga la reunificación familiar y la posibilidad de inscribir a sus hijos como residentes de Jerusalén, mientras tanto hay otros cientos de palestinos que estudian o trabajan en el extranjero y que fueron despojados de sus tarjetas de identificación en las terminales fronterizas.
Al Hammoury agregó que Israel sigue en marcha con esta política ilegal y que ésta va en aumento, ya que a todos aquellos que Israel les revoca su derecho de residencia luego tratan de mantenerlos afuera de la ciudad.

The Jerusalem Center for Social and Economical Rights (JCSER) issued a report detailing the latest numbers of Palestinians who lost their residency rights in occupied East Jerusalem due to Israeli restrictions and measures.
Two months ago, the center filed a request in this regard to the Israeli Interior Ministry and recently received a response regarding the number of Palestinian who lost residency rights since 2009 until June 6, 2010.
The Israeli Ministry revoked residency rights of 721 Palestinians, including 108 who lost this right since the beginning of this year until June 6. This means that a total of 829 Palestinians were stripped of their residency rights in 1.5 years.

As for family reunification applications since 2009 until July 15 2010, a total of 1099 applications were filed and only 258 were approved in 2009 and only 22 in 2010. In the same period, Israel rejected 144 applications in 2009 and 12 this year so far,
while 631 applications are still under review.
Ziad Al Hammoury, head of the JCSER, said that the Israeli numbers are not accurate as the reality on the ground is much worse as it was portrayed by the Israeli list as hundreds of residents are being stripped of their residency rights in occupied East Jerusalem, hundreds of families are not granted family reunifications and not allowed to register their children as Jerusalem residents, while hundreds of Palestinians who study or work abroad were stripped of their ID cards at border terminals.
Al Hammoury added that Israel is still ongoing with this illegal policy and is escalating it, especially after its revoked residency rights of Jerusalem legislators and is trying to keep them out of the city.
But the issue, Al Hammoury said, is not only about the legislators as Israel revoked the residency rights of 4672 Palestinians in 2008 alone.
