Ministro Egipcio: "Egipto mantendrá la frontera de Rafah abierta"-Egyptian Minister: “Egypt will keep Rafah terminal open”

El Dr. Mofeed Shihab, ministro egipcio de Asuntos Jurídicos del Estado y Representante de los Consejos, anunció que la Terminal fronteriza de Rafah, entre Gaza y Egipto, permanecerá abierto para permitir la transferencia de ayuda humanitaria a la Franja de Gaza.
Shihab dijo que éstas son las órdenes del presidente egipcio, Hosni Mubarak, y añadió que Egipto no abandonará al pueblo palestino hasta que se cumplan sus legítimas demandas de un Estado independiente.
También dijo que a los palestinos se les permitirá salir de Gaza y regresar a ella a través de la terminal.
Sus declaraciones se produjeron durante una sesión del Consejo de los Comunes en Egipto. Dijo que la postura de Egipto en relación con el ataque israelí contra la Flotilla de la Libertad es clara, y que el gobierno denunció el ataque y sostuvo conversaciones con las partes regionales e internacionales para exponer las violaciónes de Israel.
Shihab señaló además que lamenta el fracaso del Consejo de Seguridad en la denuncia de la agresión israelí debido a las presiones de Estados Unidos que hasta después de la Unión Europea y del Parlamento Europeo denunciaron.
El funcionario egipcio señaló además que Egipto mantendrá abierta la terminal de Rafah en ambas direcciones hasta nuevo aviso, y que El Cairo desde El Cairo presionarán aún más a Israel para levantar el bloqueo.
Exigió una investigación internacional sobre el ataque israelí que garantice la detención de todos los funcionarios israelíes involucrados, en la Corte Penal Internacional.
Shihab añadió que lo que Israel hizo es un delito internacional punible por el Derecho Internacional, el derecho humanitario y la Cuarta Convención de Ginebra.
"El uso por Israel de la fuerza militar contra los buques humanitarios y activistas es un delito que viola todas las leyes", dijo, "El delito es aún mayor ya que se llevó a cabo en aguas internacionales, es considerado como un ataque contra los países que tenían sus banderas en los barcos ".
Dijo que Egipto pidió el envío de una comisión internacional para investigar el ataque y la violación grave al Derecho Internacional.
El funcionario instó además a poner fin al asedio y detener los ataques en curso de Israel contra la población civil y los activistas de la paz.

Dr. Mofeed Shihab, Egyptian Minister of State for Legal and Representative Councils Affairs, announced that the Rafah Border Terminal between Gaza and Egypt will remain open in order to enable the transfer of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip.
Shihab stated that these are the orders of Egyptian President, Hosni Mubarak, and added that Egypt will not abandon the Palestinian people until they achieve their legitimate demand of an independent state.
He also said that the Palestinians will be allowed to leave Gaza and return to it through the terminal.
His statements came during a session of the Commons Council in Egypt. He said that the Egyptian stance regarding the Israeli attack on the Freedom Flotilla is clear, and that the government denounced the attack and held talks with regional and international parties to expose the Israeli violations.
Shihab further stated that he regrets the failure of the Security Council in denouncing the Israeli aggression due to American pressures even after the European Union and the European Parliament denounced it.
The Egyptian official further stated that Egypt will keep the Rafah terminal open in both directions until further notice and that Cairo is still pressuring Israel into lifting the siege.
He demanded an international investigation into the Israeli attack and to ensure persecuting all involved Israeli officials at the International Criminal Court.
Shihab added that what Israel did is an international crime punishable by the International Law, the humanitarian law and the Fourth Geneva Convention.
“Israel’s use of military power against humanitarian ships and activists is a crime that violates every law”, he said, “The crime is even bigger as it was carried out in international waters, it is considered an attack against the countries that had their flags on the ships”.
He said that Egypt demanded sending an international committee to investigate the attack and the serious violation to the International Law.
The official further called for ending the siege and stopping Israel’s ongoing attacks against civilians and nonviolent peace activists.
